Description
Japanese-medium elective
This course develops advanced skills in translating authentic Japanese materials into fluent Chinese. Students will practice with real-world texts (e.g., interviews, advertisements, magazine articles) to accurately decipher meaning and avoid cultural misunderstandings. A key focus is on critically engaging with machine translation: students will learn to leverage AI tools while identifying and correcting their limitations in handling contextual nuances, honorifics, and culture-specific concepts. The course aims to produce culturally insightful translators who can outperform AI-generated results.
☆Students who are enrolled in or have completed JAPN4088. Japanese language IV (Part 1) or JAPN4099. Japanese language IV (Part 2): Capstone experience are NOT eligible to take this course.
