Mao Mao is a Research Assistant Professor at the School of Modern Languages and Cultures at the University of Hong Kong. She holds a PhD in History from the University of Oxford, where her dissertation focused on British-Yugoslav cultural relations during the Cold War. Her research focuses on the history of Central and Eastern Europe in the twentieth century, with particular emphasis on the cultural, social and political history of Yugoslavia. Her research has appeared in Contemporary European History, with a further article forthcoming in Journal of Contemporary History. She is currently working on a book manuscript based on her doctoral research and a comparative project examining avant-garde art in Yugoslavia and China during the late socialist period.
