At present, the School offers undergraduate programmes in Japanese Studies, Korean Studies, and Global and Area Studies. These programmes are taught by specialist teachers and are supported by excellent teaching facilities and learning resources. Our students are given the opportunity to learn foreign languages to a working level and develop a comprehensive understanding of the history, political institutions, and customs of foreign societies. We also strongly support the ambitions of our students to pursue overseas study programmes to enrich their learning experience. Postgraduate students are invited to apply for our research postgraduate programmes where they can earn an MPhil or PhD degree under the supervision of our world-class teaching staff.

The School’s strength lies in the breadth of its offerings in equipping students with the requisite language skills, as well as with cultural, literary, economic, political and social analytical knowledge. The School has the potential to bring a genuine pedagogical coherence through developing connections between the various areas and programmes it teaches. Also, Hong Kong's regional position offers our School the opportunity for intellectual expansion by providing a unique vantage point for East/West studies.
