[Mar 6] In-Person Briefing Sessions for new SMLC Taught Postgraduate Programmes

The School of Modern Languages and Cultures is proud to announce that it will offer the new Master of Arts in the field of European Studies programme and the Master of Arts in the field of East Asian Studies programme in the 2026/27 academic year.

Prospective applicants are invited to attend a briefing session to familiarise themselves with the programme in greater detail. Future teachers of both programmes will be present to answer questions.

New programmes on offer:

Master of Arts in the field of European Studies – This programme examines the political, economic, cultural, and social experience of Europe. It focuses on European international relations, cultural studies, and intercultural communication, while also placing Europe in a global context. Students will be taught by leading scholars in the field. Students are expected to have already achieved an advanced level of study in the French, German, Spanish, or Russian language. This programme prepares students for further study at the PhD level in a variety of Arts fields or advancement in the professional job market.

The Master of Arts in the field of East Asian Studies – This programme examines the political, economic, cultural, and social experience of East Asia, with a focus on Korea and Japan. It focuses on East Asian international relations, cultural studies, and intercultural communication, while also placing East Asia in a global context. Students will be taught by leading scholars in the field. Students are expected to have already achieved an advanced level of study in the Japanese, Korean, or Russian language. This programme prepares students for further study at the PhD level in a variety of Arts fields or advancement in the professional job market.
