Jagyung Oh is a Lecturer in the Korean Studies Programme at the University of Hong Kong. She teaches Year 1 and Year 2 core language courses and a elective course KORE3024: English-Korean Translation.
Her teaching philosophy centers on bridging linguistic and cultural gaps through an analytical and feedback-driven approach. In KORE3024, she utilizes personally curated texts to highlight the structural and cultural disparities between English and Korean. As a specialist in Korean heritage, she is the author of Understanding Korean Traditional Culture through Q&A (2019), a work rooted in her academic research on Korean culture. She also brings extensive expertise in developing assessment materials for the TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean).
To ensure the highest linguistic standards, she holds National Certified Interpretation Guide licenses in both English and Chinese. She earned her MA in Teaching Korean as a Foreign Language from Yonsei University and a BA in Business Administration from Hanyang University, and previously taught at Seoul National University and Chongshin University.
