Elective Course
The volatile but colourful episode of the Cold War Europe has generated much interest and attention. Mainstream histories focus on the political and diplomatic facet of this period as historical events were deeply intertwined with dealing with crisis and international relations. Yet Cold War history was not only about politics, but it also closely interplayed with culture, society and people’s daily life. This course is designed to introduce students to dynamics that shaped Cold War Europe. Treating this period as a linear process, this historical approach aims to better understand the Cold War history from a multi-dimensional perspective and its legacy on contemporary Europe.
