Description
Elective Course
This course addresses the specific linguistic and cultural demands of interacting with Spanish-speaking organizations. Designed for students approaching a B1 proficiency level, the curriculum treats language as a vehicle for understanding corporate values and social norms. Students will work on practical skills—such as drafting correspondence, handling banking inquiries, or presenting products—while simultaneously exploring how historical and sociological differences impact business behavior between East Asia and the Hispanic world.
The syllabus places a strong emphasis on cross-cultural negotiation strategies, protocol in commercial fairs, and the nuances of professional etiquette. To ground these concepts in reality, the course incorporates regular sessions with guest speakers from the Spanish-speaking business community and institutions in Hong Kong, offering students direct insight into the current professional landscape.
Additionally, through AI-assisted exercises, students will practice cross-cultural negotiation and communication strategies, allowing them to refine their pragmatic competence and adaptability in diverse business contexts.
